It actually isn't that difficult but it's just that you can't afford to commit mistakes in SEO. You do one thing wrong and you will never show up on reputed search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN (Live Search), Altavista, Ask, Alltheweb or AOL.
Now don't be scared because this tutorial will teach you a STEP-BY-STEP methodology to do the right things and will give you sufficient knowledge on avoiding the most common hazardous mistakes.
Terms related to SEO (Search Engine Optimization):
- Search Engine - A web based program which maintains a database of web-pages on the internet and displays them when searched for. e.g. Google, Ask, MSN (Live Search), Yahoo! Search.
- Keyword or Search Term - A keyword is what you type in the TEXT FIELD of a search engine to gather information. Also known as Search Term or Keyphrase. I'll use the term keyword through out the tutorial.
- SERP - Abbreviation for Search Engine Results Page. It is a webpage containing the results generated by the search engine after you pressed the search button; seeking some information through a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN Live Search.
There are more terms related to the subject, but I'll keep them for forthcoming lessons where you'll be able to relate those terms with the topic in discussion.
